Dixon Bayco® Drop Elbow Selection

August 20, 2025

Drop elbows play a crucial role in safe and efficient fuel delivery at service stations. Dixon offers a range of drop elbows engineered for durability, performance, and ease of use in the field.

Drop elbows are used to connect a transport truck to the underground storage tank at a gas station. Dixon offers three main styles of drop elbows: Baylite™ 6210, 6500-Series, and 6600-Series. Each style has an integrated sight glass to easily monitor fluid flow, as well as a grease fitting for smooth connections even in tough conditions. While the overall purpose of these fuel delivery elbows is the same, understanding their key differences is important to make The Right Connection®.

Baylite™ 6210

6210A

Improving upon Dixon’s 6200-series elbows, the Baylite 6210 elbow was created for driver comfort and ease of use while maintaining the proven Bayco toughness and reliability. The compact design fits into most equipment boxes and the 6210A weighs in at just 13.95 lbs. This elbow features a Baylast™ seal and lubricated bushings with a forged alloy lever and bronze cam arms.

6500-Series Self-Locking Drop Elbow

6500A

The 6500-series drop elbow handle includes a built in heavy-duty locking mechanism preventing elbow disconnection while in service. Moving the handle to the closed position automatically engages the lock, and it is released when lifted. The handle can be mounted on either side of the elbow for left or right hand operation.

6600-Series Auto Shut-Off Elbow Release

6600

The 6600-series is a spill prevention drop elbow offering the same rugged modular design as the 6210 and 6500-series. It has the added benefit of an automatic shut-off mechanism in case the device is disconnected from the ground adapter due to a pressure surge or overfill incident. Acetal bushings and a grease nipple on the lever stem help keep everything moving smoothly. The elbow is constructed with an aluminum body and handle, bronze locking arms, stainless steel hardware, Baylast and nitrile rubber seals, and acetal bushings.
